why is meat so DRY

If cookout season feels more like dried up chicken season, then we gotta talk!!

Gravitating away from meats and leaning more towards yogurts, soups, and tuna salad is a tale as old as time for post-op ones. While you're allowed to go soft on occasion, it doesn't have to (shouldn't have to) be your daily MO! This week's blog is for you 🎁

But not the only thing hanging around this email! The menu, tips, products, and member news is full of goodies too! Our member scavenger hunt is starting off with water bottles and outdoor movement all over the US!

Here’s what to expect in this mid-week email:

  • Moisture in Meats (Updated Blog)
  • What's on my menu this week
  • My weekly "dash" of bariatric pillar tips
  • My weekly featured kitchen tool
  • Upcoming member news and events! 🍋 June Challenge 💬 Hear it from the Premier Members

Keeping Moisture in Your Meats after Gastric Sleeve or Bypass

Are you a post-op weight loss surgery patient who feels like chicken, pork or even beef are just too DRY? How can you keep moisture in your meats and hit your protein goals comfortably?

This experience makes bariatric meals extra frustrating. Everyone says to focus on your protein but if meat sounds unappetizing or even a little scary, it gets limiting real fast.

You might find yourself gravitating away from solid meats and choosing softer meats like dark meat chicken, flakey fish, beans, cottage cheese, or scrambled eggs.

If this is you, keep reading.

What's on my menu this week?

Juicy, tender, and oh-so-moist meats that’ll make your taste buds dance! Whether it’s chicken, turkey, shrimp, or pork, I got you covered with recipes that keep every bite delicious and satisfying.

Here is what is on my menu this week :

Super Fast Chicken Stir-Fry

Tropical Shrimp Ceviche🔒

Almond Crusted Pork Chops

Buffalo Turkey Burger

Bread-Free Chicken Nuggets

🔒 Please note!! Some recipes are reserved for Premier Access Members. Find out about Premier Access Membership! HSA/FSA cards accepted.

🧂 Just a Dash….of bariatric pillar tips.

You can find more tips for moisture in your meats on this week's blog but I'll leave one here too! When you're reheating anything, adding moisture is your friend. It could be a splash of broth or a wet paper towel over the top - but remember - "zapping" your food to warm it up also zaps water molecules...so add some back in!

Bariatric Pillar Product of the Week

I'm currently reading this book written by Linda Ouellette, LPC. Linda is a Licensed Professional Counselor, an author, a bariatric surgery patient, AND a BFC Member! The book is written in a very conversational manner which makes it relatable and easy to read. I'm on the chapter written by her husband and am so touched by his support and his inclusion in the book!
